What are areas of consensus and opportunities to standardize online safety measures and compliance across regulatory systems? Are there measures that Congress or state legislators should pass that can improve the health, safety, and privacy of children online? |

Despite bipartisan agreement • legislation is stalled in Congress and state laws are being struck down in the courts. The kids online safety debate has gone around in circles for nearly three decades in the United States. New momentum has resulted in proposals to set a baseline for reasonable safety design measures that protect the most vulnerable teens • hold platforms accountable • and empower all to have a positive online experience.
